December is a busy month! Whether you’re searching for the perfect gifts for everyone on your list, attending or hosting holiday parties, or finalizing vacation plans, there just never seems to be enough hours in the day. Amidst this month’s festivities keep your home in mind and complete our December Home Maintenance Checklist!
Although we haven’t seen record snowfalls so far this winter season, it’s important to keep an eye out for piling snow on your home’s roof. If you see snow piling to over four feet high and significant icicles forming, it may be time to call a professional to have the snow removed off your roof to prevent ice damming and potential roof damage. Here are a few more home maintenance items to cross off for December that are sure to keep your home happy during the holidays:
- Clean or replace furnace filter, HRV or humidifier filter (if applicable).
- Clean humidifier filter if necessary.
- Inspect floor drains, should pour water into drains to freshen stale water in traps.
- Check exhaust fans for snow build-up around hot water tank and furnace vents. If you live within a condominium, please notify your property manager regarding any build up.
